Katherine Chapman, Director of the Living Wage Foundation becomes a Commissioner for The Business Commission to Tackle Inequality (BCTI).
The Business Commission to Tackle Inequality (BCTI) seeks to put tackling inequality at the heart of global business's agenda for sustainable growth. Tackling inequality requires urgent action from all corners of society, and business has a critical role to play. BCTI works with a number of global companies and their leaders who are able to leverage their reach and influence to mobilize business action at scale. Commissioners are business leaders and representatives of key stakeholder groups who are working to shape, elevate, and mainstream a compelling common narrative on the role of business in tackling inequality and an agenda for action at scale.
The Living Wage Foundation has a 20 year history of tackling inequality in the UK, by working across civil society and businesses to take action to lift workers out of in-work poverty. In Katherine Chapman's role as Comissioner, we look forward to bringing that knowledge to a global community.
Katherine Chapman, Director of the Living Wage Foundation said:
"The global pandemic has shone a spotlight on decades of global inequality. Putting human dignity at the heart of business practice, including tackling poverty and providing decent living standards, will reduce inequality and underpin social cohesion and sustainable economic growth. We are delighted to be joining BCTI to work together to drive change - now is the time for action.''
