Living Wage Foundation Director, Katherine Chapman, said:
"The Living Wage Foundation is proud to be cited by the CSJ as an exemplary model for employers to follow in a bid to address low pay and to increase UK productivity. A third of the FTSE 100 companies are accredited Living Wage employers, and more the 3,400 employers around the UK are accredited to pay the voluntary Living Wage. Research has identified vast business benefits to paying the Living Wage, including reputational benefits, greater employee retention, engagement and motivation, better recruitment, and a competitive edge when bidding for contracts.
A group of leading Living Wage employers met with the CSJ in July to emphasise the importance of paying the real Living Wage, along with other measures, to address productivity, stressing that one of the key ways to boost the productivity of low-paid workers is to ensure that they're paid the real Living Wage - which is calculated every year to meet the cost of living.
We welcome the call for a new good-employer manifesto and look forward to working with the CSJ in the future."
