Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation:
"The Living Wage Foundation today congratulates all the newly elected and returning MPs. The real Living Wage enjoys cross party support and we will be working with MPs, many of whom have committed to working with us in their constituencies, to champion businesses who have accredited as Living Wage employers. These businesses are voluntarily going above and beyond statutory minimum pay rates, and committing to pay all their staff a wage that's enough to live on.
"As was highlighted throughout this election, now more than ever, low wage workers are feeling the impact as living costs rise without wages keeping pace. The reality is families making choices between eating and heating, and extra shifts or time with the kids. We look forward to working with MPs and the new government when it is formed, to encourage employers who can afford it to join the real Living Wage movement of over 3,200 responsible businesses who are acting now to ensure the wellbeing of all their employees."
