Unity Trust Bank initiated a 50% discount in lending fees to our network last year, which concluded in June. We would like to thank Unity Trust Bank for going the extra mile to support our campaign & to those who also make the commitment.
Oasis Aquila Housing, which supports 1,000 vulnerable people each year, said they were delighted with the discount. Nancy Doyle, CEO of the organisation explains,
"Saving almost £1,500 on our lending fee was significant for us. It amounts to a month's wages for a staff member working with the most at risk homeless people in the North East of England."
Peter Kelly, Director of Business Development of Unity Trust Bank explains,
"We are passionate supporters of the Living Wage at Unity Trust Bank and were proud to be the first bank to be accredited in the UK. We're also keen to support others who want to do the same. So, earlier this year, the Bank offered new borrowers 50% off their lending fee, if they were paying the Living Wage, or agreed to sign up to it. This initiative gave us the opportunity to talk to potential borrowers about the Living Wage and encourage more employers to pay staff fairly. We hope this helped to further promote the campaign."
